    About the role

    We are looking for an outstanding public health policy and strategy officer to support a portfolio of work that improves the health and wellbeing of Londoners.

    Your role will support the Public Health Consultants, each of whom will have their own portfolio of work with GLA group functional body stakeholders delivering the Group’s agreed priorities, including the GLA Group ‘Health in All Policies’ (HiAP) programme and relevant Mayoral commitments.

    This post will be primarily focused on housing and planning related activity. Whilst experience in this area is an advantage, it is not a requirement. You will lead on drafting required documentation and briefings, developing, maintaining and ensuring delivery of project plans, planning and setting up meetings, liaising with a wide range of senior colleagues across partner organisations.

    We are a small team and you will also work closely with the GLA Group Director of Public Health and the wider team to deliver the Mayor’s priorities this includes contributing to the health in all policies skills programme and health resilience work.

    This role is based at London Fire Brigade’s Head Office (Union Street SE1 0LL).

     

    What your day will look like

    • Support the implementation and embedding of the GLA Group Public Health function, including contributing to planning and project management of work.
    • Lead, contribute to and coordinate input from others to projects and briefings, on behalf of the public health team, as relevant to the Public Health Consultants’ portfolios. This could include identifying, monitoring, analysing and interpreting data and information from a wide range of sources under the managerial guidance of the consultant.
    • Be responsible for the scoping and development of other related public health projects identified in response to changes in Mayoral policy and ambition, GLA Group priorities, government policy direction, changes in the health and care system, public health needs or in other relevant areas of public policy.
    • Coordinate and contribute to various corporate processes, developing, maintaining and ensuring delivery of project plans as appropriate, planning and setting up meetings, liaising with a wide range of senior colleagues and, as part of a virtual team, working with partner organisations as required.
    • Realise the benefits of London’s diversity by promoting and enabling equality of opportunities and promoting the diverse needs and aspirations of London’s communities, particularly in the context of the disproportionate impact of COVID-19 on some of those communities.

     

    Skills, knowledge and experience

    To be considered for the role you must meet the following essential criteria:

    • An understanding of the issues associated with working in a complex political environment and the ability to negotiate and broker consensus within an organisation.
    • Understanding of the public health system and public health principles and practice is desirable, although applicants with strong transferable skills and experience will be considered.
    • Substantial experience of co-ordinating work across a number of stakeholders working in a partnership environment, which could include public sector agencies, voluntary and community groups and the private sector.
    • Good drafting skills, with the ability to produce or contribute to the production of concise, clear papers (in Word and PowerPoint format) for a range of meetings, committees and Boards.
    • Experience of working in multiple-project programmes and ensuring they deliver results on target and within budget, with first-hand experience of negotiation and monitoring issues and risks and effective monitoring and evaluation processes/ systems.
    • A qualification related to public health, or equivalent related experience, is desirable.

    Job Description

    London Stadium are looking for an Event Manager to join the team and support the Head of Operations with a range of event and commercial operations, including major events, filming and other operational requirements.  This will also include assisting as part of a venue team with the yearly transition of the stadium for our summer event programme as well as supporting our community track team and external park team on event operations in our adjoining spaces. You will bring a strong background in venue events management with knowledge and experience in contract management, forecasting, event management planning and stakeholder engagement.

    Key Responsibilities

    The role will involve liaising with event and filming organisers’ project managers; production managers; and health and safety teams, to ensure the efficient planning and delivery of venue events.  This includes the full programme, from initiation through to post event reporting and debriefing. The role also requires direct experience of working with safety plans, risk assessments and method statements.

    The ideal candidate will have a positive, proactive attitude with a creative flair to problem solving whilst working to changing timelines and priorities. You will work with autonomy on various projects and demonstrate excellent time management skills.

    Job description:

    entral Regulatory Enforcement Group handles investigations and prosecutions following serious breaches in fire safety legislation and requires their administrative functions to be carried out effectively, timely and securely, maintaining professional, communicative and confidential thresholds at all times.

    The postholder will:

    Oversee initial case conference meetings with relevant Investigating Officers, Team Leaders and our General Counsel’s Department , to evaluate evidential value of investigative material gathered and to provide direction for further investigative enquiries required.

    Generate, populate and control electronic case files (‘e-case file) for investigations, monitoring case file progression and development, whilst maintaining records of case oversight, throughout its entirety. Record on secure monitoring system developed for that purpose.

    Assist and develop, Investigating Officers and Team Leaders, in the conducting of interview under caution, in accordance with the Police and Criminal Evidence Ac 1984; in particular Codes: C, E and F 2018.

    Monitor and review, in conjunction with the Enforcement Team Leader, progress made with ongoing investigations and prosecution cases to identify good practice and areas for development to continually improve the efficiency and handling of legal cases.

    Conduct and manage post-prosecution case reviews, to identify lessons learnt that can be used to develop best practice and enhance the efficiency and performance of the enforcement function.

    Conduct investigations for the purpose of prosecution into contraventions of the Regulatory Reform (Fire Safety) Order 2005.

    Support Fire Safety Regulation staff in the investigation and prosecution processes by providing guidance and direction for investigations and associated matters including evidence gathering, collating officers and other witness statements, hard copy case file preparation, disclosure and identification of responsible persons, or others responsible for contraventions of fire safety legislation.

    Create and develop existing investigation documents, to assist and support the London Fire Brigades, investigation practices, policy and procedures.

    Monitor, vet and quality assure Audit Forms, Enforcement Notices, Prohibition Notices, Formal Letters and Documents generated and issued on behalf of the London Fire Commissioner, in respect of current fire safety legislation, whilst conducting Investigations.

    About the role

    We’re expanding the teams to help respond to the significant increase in engagement with central government and international organisations in the last year. We are looking for someone to help us help teams across the GLA to achieve their ambitions through relationship building, policy influencing and advocacy. You’ll need an interest in international, parliamentary and public affairs, experience of developing and managing processes to support effective teams, and a willingness to get involved.

    This role will support both teams, working with colleagues to ensure we respond effectively to enquiries from key stakeholders, supporting policy teams to advance their engagement activities, keeping track of the contacts we make, and getting involved in planning projects, events and briefings of key meetings.

    What your day will look like

    No two days are the same in PASP and International Relations, but some of the things you can expect to work on will be:

    • Supporting the teams to respond to correspondence from key stakeholders
    • Organising meetings and events and helping colleagues to prepare briefings for the Mayor, Deputy Mayors and other GLA senior staff
    • Managing budgets, procurement and other financial processes and;
    • Supporting the management team of PASP and International Relations
    • Supporting the development of London’s Missions and the smooth running of the London Partnership Board
    • Supporting the delivery of international visits by the Mayor, Deputy Mayors and other GLA senior staff, including researching and booking international travel
    • Establishing and managing key processes within the teams to ensure records and contacts are kept up to date
